Origin

Christmas is a holiday celebrated by people in all Christian countries in the West to commemorate the birth of

Jesus Christ, and it is also a widely celebrated secular holiday.

In the 4th century AD, Christianity was recognized and became the state religion in Rome. The Romans began to

realize that the incarnate Jesus Christ was the God who brought the true light of life to people, and was truly worthy

of worship and praise. Therefore, December 25th was used to commemorate Jesus Christ, and this day was designated

as the day of Jesus' birth! According to records. In 1607 AD, church leaders from around the world held a meeting in

Bethlehem and further confirmed December 25th as Christmas, making Christmas a global holiday.

Christmas Customs

1: Decorating the Christmas Tree

The custom of Christmas trees comes from Germany, which is made by cutting down some evergreen trees. Trees with

towering branches and leaves such as cedar and pine are often used. Usually, trees are decorated with gold and silver strips,

canes, apples, small gifts, etc. The apple symbolizes the abundant resources of the Garden of Eden, the gift symbolizes the

dedication of the Eastern Doctor to Jesus, the cane on the Christmas tree is the shepherd's cane, and the inverted cane,

resembling the initials of Jesus' name, also symbolizes Jesus. The silver ribbons on the Christmas tree symbolize holiness,

while the gold ribbons symbolize glory. The bow symbolizes the close connection between humans and gods, who will always

love humanity.

2: Exchange Christmas cards and letters

On Christmas Day, Christmas cards are sent to express longing for distant relatives and friends. Christmas cards usually

have pictures of the Christmas period, such as snow scenes, snowmen, Santa Claus, and reindeer. There are also some greeting

cards with Christian elements, such as the scene of the birth of Jesus.

3: Giving gifts to family and friends

This tradition originated when three Eastern doctors sent gifts to Jesus at his birth. Therefore, every Christmas, family and

friends exchange gifts. The legend of Santa Claus giving gifts also stems from this story. Legend has it that on December 24th

every year, Santa Claus drives a sled pulled by reindeer to give gifts to various households.

4: Singing Christmas Songs

During Christmas, there are always some traditional Christmas songs echoing, adding atmosphere to Christmas, and

joyful songs echoing in the streets and alleys. Common Christmas songs nowadays include "The First Noel's First Christmas Song,"

"Hark! Herald Angels Sing," "White Christmas,"and "We wish you a Merry Christmas."

"Winter Wonderland's Wonderland" and "Joy To The World"

When Christmas songs are played, it's time for people to prepare for Christmas. People start playing Christmas songs a few

weeks before Christmas, and you can hear them no matter where you are.
